In an effort to make the APHA Annual Meeting and Exposition accessible to the widest range of people possible, an accessibility booth will be staffed on site in the registration area at the Washington Convention Center (WCC) to facilitate and manage any requests or questions pertaining to issues of Access. Activity Posting Center [Top of Page]
The Activity Posting Center is centrally located in the Washington Convention Center (WCC) where registrants are invited to post flyers or to advertise a meeting or special event. You may not post flyers or handouts on any hotel or convention center walls as APHA will be fined and will be responsible for clean-up costs. It is also requested for crowd control, safety and consideration of all attendees that no flyers or handouts are distributed directly outside of meeting rooms or exhibit halls. Please utilize the Activity Posting Center to advertise your meetings or events.
Breastfeeding Room [Top of Page]
In response to members requests, a room will be designated at the Washington Convention Center as a breastfeeding lounge to enable new mothers to nurse or pump in a comfortable and private area. Check the Final Annual Meeting Program for exact location.
Children’s Activity Center [Top of Page]
Enjoy APHA and Boston with your family! Accent on Children’s Arrangements, a national childcare organization provides Camp APHA exclusively for APHA meeting attendees from Sunday, November 4, through Wednesday, November 7. Space is limited and advance registration is required. For children with special needs, advance written notice (prior to October 2) is required. First Aid Station [Top of Page]
A First Aid Station will be staffed at the Washington Convention Center during annual meeting hours. If you need a place to lie down or feel ill, go to the First Aid Station.
i-Communicate [Top of Page]
Networking at APHA is now even easier! i-Communicate, APHA’s electronic information centers, enable registered attendees to access their pop-mail/internet mail accounts as well as their personal APHA Annual Meeting e-mail accounts from two locations in the Washington Convention Center.
All confirmed APHA Annual Meeting registrants will be assigned a temporary i-Communicate mailbox and can begin corresponding a month prior to the Annual Meeting with other registered attendees via i-Communicate and may continue to do so until two months following the meeting. To access your i-Communicate account and send messages to other APHA registrants, you will need the Login ID and Password that will be sent to each registrant via e-mail on October 2, 2007.
i-Communicate can also be accessed using any personal computer connected to the internet. Registrants will also be able to search the final program and abstracts, confirm room locations, utilize the personal scheduler, and visit the Virtual Expo.
Information Desks [Top of Page]
Do you need help navigating the Final Program -- can’t find a particular session, need directions to a room, have questions about the APHA Annual Meeting -- stop by and ask our onsite information desk clerks to help you out. APHA Information Desks will be staffed at the Washington Convention Center and two meeting hotels. For members with mobility disabilities, a phone will be available at the information desks to request on-call accessible shuttle service.
Package and Shipping Service [Top of Page]
After a visit to the Exhibit Hall, don’t carry around those heavy packages. Take advantage of the Washington Convention Center Business Center to send your materials home. They can manage packages up to 150 pounds. Please note that most hotel properties also have their own business centers which will be glad to arrange to mail your materials for you.
Public Health CareerMart [Top of Page]
Let APHA Public Health CareerMart host your Career Day at the Annual Meeting. This is the perfect opportunity for employers and job seekers to meet face-to-face. Prior to the Annual Meeting, job seekers and employers may submit their resumes and job announcements online. Interview booths can be reserved in advance as well as on site at the Public Health CareerMart in the exhibit hall anytime during the Hall hours. Experienced and certified career coaches will also be available. Please contact ashell.alston@apha.org for additional information and booth fees.
Shuttle Bus/ADA Transportation Service [Top of Page]
Complimentary shuttle service will be provided between the Washington Conventionn Center (WCC) and the official APHA Annual Meeting hotels. Wheelchair accessible buses are available on every route. Shuttle routes and daily schedules will be available on site. Wheelchair accessible vans can also be scheduled upon request between official APHA hotels and the WCC for attendees with disabilities. Visit the APHA Shuttle Bus Service Desk located near the shuttle drop off area in the WCC to make arrangements in advance. Arrangements can also be made by phone. Phone numbers will be published on shuttle signage, in the final program and in the badge mailing packet.
Speaker Ready Rooms and Audiovisual Equipment [Top of Page]
Speaker Ready Rooms have been designated at the Washington Convention Center (WCC), as well as the APHA meeting hotelsl for APHA Session Presenters. These rooms are equipped with PC computers, PowerPoint and overhead projectors. The speaker ready room at the WCC is also equipped with a printer -- this equipment is available to session presenters free of charge. Session presenters may utilize the speaker ready rooms to preview their presentation or order last minute audiovisual equipment.

Located in the Public Health Expo, the Student Connection provides an opportunity for all public health students to congregate, meet other students and learn more about how to get involved in the APHA Student Assembly.
