Accessible Housing
The Washington Convention Center (WCC) will house registration, the APHA Public Health Exposition, Public Health CareerMart, Everything APHA, Electronic Message Center, Poster Sessions, Activity Posting Center, several Special Sessions and many concurrent scientific sessions. APHA will also be using two meeting hotels for sessions and events. Every effort is made to schedule all scientific sessions and business meetings for each APHA Section, SPIG, Caucus and Forum at a specific hotel or at the WCC. View the Guide to the Location of Sections to determine the headquarters property for each section, SPIG, Caucus and Forum. Free shuttle service will be provided from the official hotels to the WCC.
Hotel Accessibility Surveys Each year APHA conducts a detailed accessibility survey of all official APHA hotels. These surveys (completed by the hotels) provide information about accessible entrances, parking and drop-off areas and information regarding accessible public ares, guest rooms, meeting rooms, restaurants, hotel amenities and assistive devices. This information is provided to our members and registrants to enable them to select the hotel that best meets their needs. The Online Housing Form also provides specific accessibility information and detailed descriptions of each hotel. Make hotel reservations as early as possible as there are a limited number of accessible rooms available at each property.
Making Hotel Reservations Hotel reservations can be made through Online Housing, by submitting the Paper Housing Reservation Form or by calling APHA Housing Services at 866-871-5085. All hotel desginated ADA rooms will be specifically set aside for individuals requesting them on the Housing Reservation Form.
Hotel Access Training To further facilitate an accessible meeting APHA offers free accessibility training to the staff at the meeting hotels and convention center. This training is designed to heighten awareness and educate hotel and convention center staff on disability and accessibility issues prior to the arrival of APHA attendees.
