Speed Mentoring:
APHA-SA is looking for professionals to participate in the annual Speed Mentoring event during the 139th APHA Annual Meeting & Exposition in Washington, DC. The purpose of this event is to offer a short interactive experience where current students and recent graduates of public health degree programs can speak with and learn from experienced public health professionals. The Speed Mentoring event will take place at the Washington, DC Convention Center on Saturday, October 29th from 2:30pm to 4:15pm. Each student participant (mentee) signed-up, will have the opportunity for a 5-minute discussion with each mentor on three main topic areas; 1) job search/career path; 2) dissertation/thesis advice and research funding; and 3) CV/resume development. The idea is that there will be two to three mentors representing each main topic area. Please register by October 21st, 2011 at https://sites.google.com/site/aphasastudentmeeting/speed-mentoring to participate in this event as a Mentor. If you have any questions regarding Speed Mentoring, please contact Carly Chornobil and Elizabeth Baker at mentoring@aphastudents.org
