Providing CE Credit for Program Activities

American Public Health Association
Continuing Education Application Process

APHA welcomes this opportunity to collaborate for the benefit of our many public health professionals who seek life-long learning

Welcome to working with APHA for the purpose of awarding CE credits to the participating learners during your Program/Activity. APHA is accredited for health education and medicine*, certified in public health and, for nursing the accreditation has been given jointly to APHA and its Public Health Nursing (PHN) Section.

Providing CE credits is a process that requires documentation.  APHA has simplified the process by developing a set of files that offer explanations and forms.

Instructions for working with APHA as an accredited provider or approver of continuing education credit:

1)  Review the Eleven(11) Key Elements that  need to be documented to obtain continuing education credit for your activity.

2) Download, complete and return the Letter of Intent (under revision) for Continuing Education Credit.  Contact annette.ferebee@apha.org.

3)  APHA will contact you to confirm your eligibility and send you a full CE Application Packet.

4) If APHA is the accredited provider, we will work with your organization from the planning stage to offer CE for your activity.

5) If APHA is approving your activity (only certain discipline activity can be approved), once your application is submitted and reviewed, you will receive notification in writing of your status.

Your organization must have a written notice of final acceptance by APHA before the day of the program/activity in order for APHA to award CE credits.

APHA offers technical and expert assistance.

* ANCC recognizes the term "co-providing" to denote an accredited provider working with a non-accredited provider to offer continuing education credits, whereas ACCME uses the term joint sponsorship to denote the same relationship.
