About Us
The International Health Section was founded in 1976 to provide leadership and a focus on international public health issues within APHA. It is one of 25 discipline-based sections. Sections are the basic organizational unit of APHA.
The Section is earning a reputation as an active community of international health professionals engaged in networking, policy development, and sharing scientific knowledge and experience with peers as well as increasingly in advocacy and public education. We are building relationships with other sections to promote global health throughout APHA.
Section Profile Section members, which number over 1500, are a broad range of international health professionals from students to professors, interns to program directors, and authorities on many aspects of international health. We live in over 60 countries and practically every state of the U.S.
Section Governance The Section is governed by a Chair and other officers, section councilors, and governing councilors. It provides a forum for members to pursue their international health interests in collaboration with others with a common interest. Through various committees and working groups, a broad range of interests are accommodated.
