Activities

A key event in the International Health Section’s calendar is the APHA Annual Meeting.

Activities Include

  • Scientific program – about 125 oral presentations and 75 poster sessions on global health issues
  • Networking in the hallways, at the Section luncheon, and Social Hour and Awards Ceremony
  • Section business meetings
  • Contributing to the development of APHA’s policy resolutions

The Section is working to add value to APHA membership by enriching its activities between Annual Meetings, by:

  • Advocacy – mobilizing members to contact legislators and write letters and articles for newspapers
  • Public education – to increase appreciation of the importance of global health to U.S. health
  • Policy development – writing new policy resolutions for APHA
  • Job hunting – using APHA’s CareerMart (www.apha.org) and information at www.apha.org/about/careers/hqjobs/

  • Mid-year meeting – during Global Health Council annual conference
  • Newsletters – accessible at Section & SPIG Newsletters
  • Broadcast email – to inform members of news and opportunities
  • Special interest groups – e.g. Community-Based Pri. Hea. Care
